This $1,000 scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable award. Even though it is not renewable for the same student, a new Dan Moscatiello Scholarship is offered each year to continue supporting students on their educational journeys. We encourage those who are eligible to apply each year if they have not yet been selected as a winner.

As part of the application, eligible students must write an original essay responding to the following prompt (approximately 500 words):

"Describe a meaningful educational experience that has shaped your career aspirations and explain how you plan to apply what you learned to your future endeavors."

This essay should be personal and reflective, giving insight into your academic journey, growth, and future ambitions. Be clear and sincere – the essay is a key component of the selection process.

Dan Moscatiello is a distinguished leader in both the energy sector and the field of education. With nearly two decades of experience in power generation, Dan served as the Plant Manager of the Lakewood Cogeneration Plant in New Jersey, gaining extensive expertise in operating steam and combined-cycle power plants. His hands-on leadership experience in the power industry has given him deep insight into the skills and dedication required to succeed in technical fields.

In addition to his industry accomplishments, Dan Moscatiello is passionately committed to education and training. He is the General Manager of The Training Center, a technical school focused on preparing and certifying operators for careers in plant operations and power generation. In this role, Dan mentors and educates aspiring engineers and operators, demonstrating his leadership in education by helping students develop practical skills and knowledge. His dual background in power generation and educational leadership has inspired him to give back to the community through initiatives like this scholarship. Dan strongly believes in the transformative power of education and is dedicated to supporting students who work hard to achieve their academic and professional goals.
